Description

Berry Crisp Dump Cake is an easy baked dessert made with frozen mixed berries, French vanilla cake mix, oats, walnuts, and melted butter. This warm and comforting dessert features a juicy berry filling topped with a buttery crisp crumble that bakes golden brown and pairs perfectly with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 bags (12-15 oz each) frozen mixed berries
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) French vanilla cake mix
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Spread the frozen mixed berries evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish without thawing them.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the French vanilla cake mix, old-fashioned oats, chopped walnuts, and melted butter until thick crumbs form.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the frozen berries, covering most of the fruit.
  5. Bake the Berry Crisp Dump Cake for 50-55 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the berry filling is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Allow the dessert to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • Do not thaw the frozen berries before baking because they help create the perfect saucy filling.
  • French vanilla cake mix provides the best flavor, but yellow cake mix or vanilla cake mix also work well.
  • Quick oats can be substituted for old-fashioned oats if needed.
  • Pecans or almonds may be used instead of walnuts.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven before serving.
