Description

Blueberry Cherry Tomato Caprese Salad is a fresh and colorful summer salad made with juicy cherry tomatoes, sweet blueberries, creamy buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. This easy no-cook side dish combines sweet and savory flavors for a refreshing appetizer or accompaniment to grilled meals, picnics, and patriotic celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries
  • 2 pints cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 oz firm buffalo mozzarella cheese, sliced into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the blueberries and cherry tomatoes thoroughly and drain well.
  2. Slice the cherry tomatoes in half and place them in a large serving bowl.
  3. Add the blueberries to the bowl and gently toss to combine.
  4. Slice the buffalo mozzarella into 1/4-inch thick slices. If desired, use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut decorative shapes.
  5. Arrange the mozzarella over the tomato and blueberry mixture.
  6. Tear the fresh basil leaves and scatter them evenly across the salad.
  7. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad.
  8. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  9. Serve immediately for the freshest flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe cherry tomatoes and fresh blueberries for the best flavor.
  • Buffalo mozzarella provides the creamiest texture, but fresh mozzarella pearls can be substituted.
  • For a patriotic presentation, cut the mozzarella into star shapes using a small cookie cutter.
  • Assemble the salad shortly before serving to maintain freshness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
  • Balsamic glaze can be used instead of balsamic vinegar for a sweeter finish.
