Description

Brown Sugar Meatloaf with Ketchup Glaze is a classic comfort food recipe made with juicy ground beef, savory seasonings, and a sweet tangy glaze. This easy homemade meatloaf is tender, flavorful, and perfect for family dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup seasoned croutons, crushed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, salt, and chili powder until smooth.
  3. Spread a small amount of the ketchup glaze mixture onto the bottom of the prepared loaf pan.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crushed croutons, chopped onion, eggs, milk, and black pepper.
  5. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly combined without overmixing.
  6. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it into the prepared pan.
  7. Spread the remaining ketchup glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  8. Bake for about 1 hour or until the center reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  9. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the center reaches 160°F.
  • Ground turkey can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • This meatloaf freezes well for up to 3 months.
