Description

This Burrata Appetizer with Honey is a perfect balance of creamy cheese, sweet honey, and a hint of spice from red pepper flakes. The toasted sourdough provides a satisfying crunch, making it a simple yet elegant appetizer that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large slice of sourdough bread (or 2 smaller pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small burrata ball (drained and dried with a paper towel)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Butter the sourdough bread evenly, making sure the butter reaches the edges.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the buttered bread until golden brown on both sides.
  3. Place the well-drained burrata on top of the toasted bread and gently open the cheese to spread it evenly across the surface.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the honey and crushed red pepper flakes. Drizzle this mixture over the burrata.
  5. Season the dish with a pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Let the burrata sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before serving for the best creamy texture.
  • Keep a close eye on the bread while toasting to avoid burning.
  • Warming the honey slightly before drizzling can enhance its flavor.
  • For a milder flavor, reduce or eliminate the crushed red pepper flakes.
