Description
Caramel Apple Grapes are an easy bite-size treat made with crisp seedless green grapes dipped in creamy caramel and coated with finely crushed salted peanuts. They deliver the sweet, tart, salty, and crunchy flavors of caramel apples in a fun party-friendly dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 30 seedless green grapes, washed and completely dried
- 1 cup chewy caramel bits or caramel squares
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 cup salted peanuts, finely crushed
- 30 cocktail skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
- Wash the green grapes and dry them completely. Any remaining moisture can prevent the caramel from sticking.
- Insert a cocktail skewer or toothpick into each grape without pushing it completely through.
- Place the finely crushed salted peanuts in a shallow bowl and set aside.
- Add the caramel bits or squares and heavy cream to a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Stir continuously until the caramel is completely melted and smooth. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting to keep the caramel warm.
- Holding a grape by its skewer, dip it into the warm caramel and allow the excess caramel to drip back into the saucepan.
- Immediately dip the caramel-coated grape into the crushed peanuts, gently turning it to coat.
- Place the finished grape on a plate or lined tray to set. Repeat with the remaining grapes, working one at a time.
- Allow the coating to set, then serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Make sure the grapes are completely dry before dipping or the caramel may slide off.
- Keep the melted caramel over very low heat while assembling the grapes so it stays smooth and easy to dip.
- About 22 individually wrapped caramel candies typically equal 1 cup, although the exact number varies by brand and candy size.
- Finely crushed peanuts adhere better than large pieces.
- For a peanut-free variation, try crushed pretzels, graham crackers, cookie crumbs, coconut, or another suitable topping.
- The grapes can be prepared up to one day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
- Serve them chilled or let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
