Description

Chicken lettuce wraps are a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish made with savory ground chicken, fresh vegetables, and crisp lettuce leaves. Packed with Asian-inspired flavors like garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and hoisin, this recipe is perfect for a low-carb lunch, light dinner, or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 head butter lettuce (about 12 leaves)

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by finely chopping the garlic, ginger, mushrooms, and water chestnuts.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring constantly for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Mix in chopped mushrooms and water chestnuts, cooking for 3โ€“4 minutes until softened.
  5. Pour in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, then stir well to combine.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 2โ€“3 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
  7. Add sliced green onions and stir to combine evenly.
  8. Wash and dry lettuce leaves, then arrange them on a serving platter.
  9. Spoon the warm chicken mixture into each lettuce leaf and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use butter lettuce for soft, flexible wraps or iceberg lettuce for extra crunch.
  • Do not overcook the chicken to keep it tender and juicy.
  • Store the filling separately from lettuce to maintain freshness.
  • Add chili sauce or sriracha for a spicy variation.
  • For gluten-free wraps, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
