This Christmas Eve Savoury Snack Mix is a delightful combination of salty and savory ingredients, perfect for holiday gatherings or as a gift. A blend of cereal, pretzels, cheese crackers, and nuts, coated in a flavorful seasoning, makes this snack mix irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Shreddies Cereal (Original flavor)
  • 4 cups mini pretzels
  • 2 cups salted mixed nuts
  • 3 cups cheese crackers (Cheese Nips or Cheese Its)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 3 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried red chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the Shreddies cereal, mini pretzels, salted mixed nuts, and cheese crackers. Toss gently to mix.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, rice vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, oregano, parsley, red chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the butter-oil mixture over the snack mix and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Spread the mixture on the baking sheet and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the snack mix and toss to combine.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature, or store in an airtight container once cooled.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pretzels and cereal.
  • If you prefer a spicier mix, add more red chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Make sure to stir the mix every 15 minutes to ensure it bakes evenly and the seasonings coat all ingredients.
  • This mix can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container for up to one week.
