Description
Christmas Oreo Balls are easy, no-bake holiday truffles made with crushed Oreo cookies, softened cream cheese, dark chocolate melting wafers, white vanilla melting wafers, and festive Christmas sprinkles. These rich, creamy chocolate treats are perfect for Christmas parties, holiday dessert platters, cookie exchanges, and homemade edible gifts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 36 Oreo cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 10 oz dark chocolate melting wafers
- 10 oz white vanilla melting wafers
- Christmas sprinkles, as needed
Instructions
- Add the Oreo cookies to a food processor and process until they become fine crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, place the cookies in a sealed zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
- Add the softened cream cheese to the food processor and pulse until the ingredients begin to combine.
- Transfer the Oreo mixture to a mixing bowl and use a rubber spatula to finish mixing until the cookie crumbs and cream cheese form a uniform, thick mixture.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a mini cookie scoop measuring approximately 1.5 tablespoons to portion the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Roll each portion between your hands to form smooth, evenly sized truffle balls.
- Chill the Oreo balls in the refrigerator or freezer for 30 minutes, or until firm enough to dip.
- Melt the dark chocolate melting wafers in the microwave in short intervals, stirring between each interval, or use a double boiler. Stir until smooth.
- Dip half of the chilled Oreo balls into the melted dark chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then place the truffles back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Immediately add Christmas sprinkles before the coating sets.
- Melt the white vanilla melting wafers using the same method, stirring until smooth.
- Dip the remaining Oreo balls into the melted white vanilla coating. Return them to the baking sheet and immediately decorate with Christmas sprinkles.
- Refrigerate the decorated Christmas Oreo Balls until the chocolate coating is completely firm. Serve chilled or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Use the entire Oreo cookie, including the cream filling, for the correct texture and flavor.
- Soften the cream cheese before mixing to make it easier to combine with the cookie crumbs.
- If you do not have a food processor, crush the cookies in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin and mix the cream cheese by hand.
- Chill the truffle centers for 30 minutes before dipping to help them hold their shape.
- Use a fork or dipping tool to coat the truffles and remove excess melted chocolate.
- Add Christmas sprinkles immediately after dipping each truffle, while the chocolate coating is still wet.
- Keep the dark and white chocolate coatings in separate bowls for a festive two-tone appearance.
- Store Christmas Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Freeze in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
- Because these truffles contain cream cheese, do not leave them at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
