Description

These Christmas Sugar Cookies are soft, chewy, and festive, topped with a creamy cream cheese frosting and holiday sprinkles. Perfect for holiday gatherings, family baking, and gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Cream Cheese, softened
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (for frosting)
  • Holiday Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes using a hand mixer.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten each ball gently with a glass.
  7. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Do not overbake.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies and top with holiday sprinkles.

Notes

  • Chill the dough if it’s too soft to handle. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes before rolling into balls.
  • Be careful not to overbake the cookies, as they should remain soft.
  • Store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
