Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line or grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
- Stir in buttermilk until the mixture is smooth.
- Add baking soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon, mixing well.
- Gradually fold in the flour until just combined; do not overmix.
- Divide batter evenly into muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While baking, prepare topping by melting butter and mixing cinnamon with sugar in separate bowls.
- Let muffins cool for 5 minutes, then remove from pan.
- Dip each muffin top into melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.
