Description
Cranberry Brie Bites are an easy and festive holiday appetizer made with crescent dough, creamy Brie cheese, whole berry cranberry sauce, and fresh rosemary. The bite-sized appetizers are baked in a mini muffin tin until the pastry is light golden brown and served warm.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: As needed for dusting the dough and cutting board.
- Crescent dough sheet: 8 ounces, or crescent rolls with the seams pinched together.
- Brie cheese: 8-ounce wheel, cut into small pieces.
- Whole berry cranberry sauce: 1 cup; do not use jellied cranberry sauce.
- Fresh rosemary sprigs: About 2 sprigs, cut into small pieces.
- Cooking spray: As needed for the mini muffin tin.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and spray a 24-count mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
- Spread a little all-purpose flour over a counter or cutting board, then roll out the 8-ounce crescent dough sheet. If using crescent rolls, pinch the seams together to form one sheet.
- Cut the crescent dough into 24 equal-sized squares.
- Place one dough square into each mini muffin tin slot.
- Cut the 8-ounce Brie wheel into small pieces and place a piece inside each crescent dough square.
- Top each piece with a generous spoonful of whole berry cranberry sauce.
- Add a small piece of fresh rosemary sprig to each bite.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is light golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Notes
- Use whole berry cranberry sauce rather than jellied cranberry sauce.
- Removing the Brie rind is optional because it is edible, but it can be removed if preferred.
- Puff pastry can be substituted for crescent dough, although the baking time may need adjustment.
- A mini muffin tin is recommended for true bite-sized appetizers; a regular muffin tin will create larger portions.
- Blueberry jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jam, or orange marmalade can be used instead of cranberry sauce.
- Toasted walnuts or pecans can be used instead of rosemary for a nutty variation.
- Reheat leftovers in an oven or air fryer so the crescent dough does not become too soft.
- Cooked bites can be frozen when wrapped well to prevent freezer burn. Defrost in the refrigerator before reheating.
