Description

Crispy Fried Mushrooms with Cool Ranch Dip is a quick and delicious appetizer featuring golden, crunchy mushrooms paired with a creamy, herb-infused ranch dip. Perfect for parties, game day, or a comforting snack, this vegetarian-friendly recipe is ready in just 30 minutes and delivers maximum flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste (for the dip)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, minced garlic, chopped dill, chopped chives, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate while preparing mushrooms.
  2. Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; one with beaten eggs; and one with breadcrumbs or panko.
  3. Dip each mushroom slice into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs or panko. Press lightly to adhere.
  4. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F).
  5. Fry the mushrooms in small batches, about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  6. Transfer fried mushrooms to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with chilled cool ranch dip. Garnish with extra chives or dill if desired.

Notes

  • Use panko for extra crunch.
  • Dry mushrooms thoroughly before breading to prevent sogginess.
  • For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Air fryer option: Cook at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in oven or air fryer.
