Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pounds apples, chopped (Ambrosia and Honeycrisp are great options)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 orange, chopped
- 2 quarts water
Instructions
- Place all ingredients into a crockpot.
- Set the crockpot to low and cook for 6 hours.
- Once the apples are soft, mash the mixture with a potato masher to release as much juice as possible.
- Squeeze out any remaining juice from the apples and orange.
- Strain the cider through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the solids.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, flavorful cider!
Notes
- For a less sweet cider, adjust the amount of brown sugar according to your preference.
- To store leftovers, let the cider cool and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days.
- You can also freeze any leftover cider in portions for future enjoyment.
- If you prefer a spicier cider, add more cloves or allspice to taste.
- For serving, garnish with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange for extra flavor.
