Description
Easy French Dip Sliders made with roast beef, Swiss or provolone cheese, caramelized onions, and horseradish mayo on buttery rolls, served with warm jus.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon cream-style horseradish
- 1/2 pound provolone or Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley (plus more for garnish)
- 2 cups beef broth or stock (for jus)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for jus)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (for jus)
- 1–2 teaspoons beef base (optional, to taste)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your broiler and slice the entire pack of slider rolls horizontally. Toast the cut sides under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Lightly spray a baking dish with cooking spray and place the bottom half of the rolls inside, toasted side up. Mix mayonnaise and horseradish and spread half on the bottom rolls.
- Layer half the cheese, then roast beef, caramelized onions, and the remaining cheese over the rolls. Spread the remaining horseradish mayo on the cut side of the top rolls and place them on top.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley. Brush generously over the top and sides of the sliders.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5–8 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While sliders bake, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add beef base if needed. Strain and keep warm for serving.
- Let sliders rest a few minutes after baking, then cut and serve with the warm jus on the side.
Notes
- Toast the rolls before assembling to help prevent sogginess.
- Use Dijon mustard instead of horseradish for a milder spread.
- Make caramelized onions up to 4 days in advance and refrigerate.
- Use a light-colored baking dish or lower oven temp by 25°F if using a dark pan.
- These sliders are best fresh but can be reheated wrapped in foil in the oven.
