Description

Frosted Easter Brownies are rich, fudgy chocolate brownies topped with creamy pastel buttercream frosting and festive decorations, making them a perfect dessert for spring celebrations and Easter gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons (30–45ml) milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Food coloring (pastel shades, as needed)
  • 1/4 cup (40g) sprinkles or candy eggs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  9. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Divide the frosting and mix in pastel food coloring as desired.
  11. Spread or pipe the frosting over the cooled brownies and decorate with sprinkles or candy eggs.
  12. Let the frosting set before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to keep the brownies soft and fudgy.
  • Allow brownies to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Chill the brownies briefly for cleaner slicing.
  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant pastel shades.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
