Description

A festive Frosted Mistletoe Margarita made with silver tequila, cranberry juice, Cointreau, fresh lime, cranberries, honey, orange zest, and ice. Blended until frosty and finished with a sweet-salty rim, rosemary, and optional sugared cranberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) no-sugar-added cranberry juice
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau or orange liqueur
  • Juice from 1/2 lime
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2-3 teaspoons honey, adjusted to taste
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 cup ice
  • Fresh rosemary, for serving, optional
  • Sugared cranberries, for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Combine the granulated sugar and kosher salt on a shallow plate. Moisten the rim of a serving glass with lime, then dip the rim into the sugar-salt mixture until evenly coated.
  2. Add the silver tequila, cranberry juice, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, cranberries, and honey to a blender.
  3. Add the ice and blend until the mixture is smooth, thick, and slushy.
  4. Add the orange zest and blend briefly until incorporated.
  5. Taste and adjust the sweetness with additional honey or brighten the flavor with extra lime juice if desired.
  6. Pour the Frosted Mistletoe Margarita into the prepared glass.
  7. Garnish with fresh rosemary and sugared cranberries, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use silver or blanco tequila for a clean agave flavor that complements the cranberry and citrus.
  • No-sugar-added cranberry juice creates a pleasantly tart cocktail and allows you to control the sweetness with honey.
  • For a thicker frozen margarita, add a little more ice or use frozen cranberries.
  • For a thinner consistency, add a small splash of cranberry juice.
  • Adjust the honey to taste depending on the sweetness of your cranberry juice.
  • For an on-the-rocks version, shake the ingredients with ice instead of blending and serve over fresh ice.
  • Prepare the sugar-salt rim and garnishes ahead of time, but blend the cocktail immediately before serving for the best texture.
  • Optional sugared cranberries can be made by soaking fresh cranberries briefly in maple syrup, coating them with granulated sugar, and allowing them to dry.
