Description
Funnel Cake Bites are bite-sized versions of the traditional fair favorite, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are light, airy, and dusted with powdered sugar, perfect for a quick, easy dessert or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth and free of lumps.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove the bites from the oil and drain excess oil on paper towels.
- While warm, generously dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
Notes
- Fry the funnel cake bites in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, ensuring even cooking and crispiness.
- Check the oil temperature using a small bit of batter; if it sizzles and floats, it’s ready.
- Store leftover funnel cake bites in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat them in an oven or air fryer to restore their crispiness.
