- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for sauce)
- 1 tbsp fresh dill (for sauce)
- 1/4 tsp salt (for sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, garlic, red onion, parsley, dill, oregano, egg, breadcrumbs, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5 inch meatballs and place them evenly on the baking sheet.
- Lightly brush or drizzle the meatballs with olive oil.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until fully cooked and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While the meatballs cook, grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess liquid.
- In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, olive oil, and salt until smooth.
- Let the meatballs rest for 5 minutes after baking.
- Serve warm with tzatziki sauce on the side or drizzled on top.
Notes
- Do not overmix the meat mixture to keep meatballs tender.
- Drain cucumber well to avoid watery tzatziki sauce.
- Chill tzatziki for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.
