Description

Grilled Tandoori Chicken Skewers are juicy, spice-marinated chicken pieces grilled to perfection and served with a refreshing tzatziki sauce, offering a bold and smoky Indian-inspired flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt (for tzatziki)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cucumber, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for tzatziki)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (for tzatziki)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt, garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, coriander, cumin, turmeric, cloves, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Add chicken pieces and mix until fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. In another bowl, combine yogurt, cucumber, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, mint, salt, and pepper to prepare the tzatziki sauce. Chill until ready to use.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and soak wooden skewers in water for 20 minutes.
  5. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving space between pieces.
  6. Grill skewers for 4–5 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes.
  8. Serve hot with chilled tzatziki sauce and optional lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Marinate overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Chicken thighs are juicier than chicken breast for grilling.
  • Do not overcrowd skewers to ensure even cooking.
  • Soak wooden skewers to prevent burning.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
