Description

Grinch Popcorn is a festive and colorful holiday treat that combines fluffy popcorn with a gooey green marshmallow glaze and red candy hearts. It’s perfect for movie nights, gifting, or adding a fun twist to any holiday gathering. This easy-to-make treat comes together in just 15 minutes, making it a quick and delightful addition to your holiday spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn (about ⅓ cup kernels)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • Green gel food coloring (or liquid)
  • Red candy hearts (or red M&Ms, sprinkles, jelly beans)
  • Optional: festive sprinkles
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn and transfer it to a large bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and add green food coloring, stirring until you achieve a vibrant green color.
  4. Pour the green marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and gently toss to coat the popcorn evenly.
  5. While still warm, sprinkle with red candy hearts, festive sprinkles (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the marshmallow coating to set.
  6. Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and serve in a large bowl or pack into individual bags for gifting.

Notes

  • If using microwave popcorn, be sure to choose plain, unbuttered popcorn to avoid flavor clashes with the marshmallow glaze.
  • For a vegan version, substitute with vegan butter and ensure that the marshmallows and candies are vegan-friendly.
  • If you want a deeper green color, use gel food coloring instead of liquid coloring.
