It’s perfect for movie nights, gifting, or adding a fun twist to any holiday gathering. This easy-to-make treat comes together in just 15 minutes, making it a quick and delightful addition to your holiday spread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 cups plain popped popcorn (about ⅓ cup kernels)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cups mini marshmallows
- Green gel food coloring (or liquid)
- Red candy hearts (or red M&Ms, sprinkles, jelly beans)
- Optional: festive sprinkles
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Pop the popcorn and transfer it to a large bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and add green food coloring, stirring until you achieve a vibrant green color.
- Pour the green marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and gently toss to coat the popcorn evenly.
- While still warm, sprinkle with red candy hearts, festive sprinkles (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the marshmallow coating to set.
- Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and serve in a large bowl or pack into individual bags for gifting.
Notes
- If using microwave popcorn, be sure to choose plain, unbuttered popcorn to avoid flavor clashes with the marshmallow glaze.
- For a vegan version, substitute with vegan butter and ensure that the marshmallows and candies are vegan-friendly.
- If you want a deeper green color, use gel food coloring instead of liquid coloring.
