Description

Ground Turkey Pasta is a creamy, comforting, and healthier pasta dish made with lean ground turkey, a rich tomato-based sauce, and melted cheese. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this recipe delivers bold flavors with a lighter twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 450 g lean ground turkey
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 400 ml passata (tomato puree)
  • 250 ml chicken stock
  • 200 ml single cream (half and half)
  • 150 g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water and drain.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and sauté the diced onion for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the ground turkey and cook for 4–5 minutes, breaking it apart, until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Stir in the garlic, thyme, rosemary, and red chili flakes, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the passata and chicken stock, stir well, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for 10–12 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Stir in the single cream, then add the cooked pasta and mix well.
  8. Add grated cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
  9. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then stir in fresh parsley.
  10. Serve immediately with extra cheese or herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for a smoother, creamier sauce.
  • Do not overcook the ground turkey to prevent dryness.
  • Add extra chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicier version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat with a splash of broth or water to maintain creaminess.
  • Freeze the sauce separately for up to 3 months for best texture.
