Description

Easy Halloween Krispie Treats shaped like spooky ghosts, made with crispy rice cereal and gooey marshmallows, dipped in creamy white chocolate, and decorated with mini chocolate chip faces. These fun no-bake treats are perfect for Halloween parties, classroom celebrations, and festive fall desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 10 ounces white chocolate or white candy melting discs
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan

Instructions

  1. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Place the salted butter in a large saucepan and melt it over low heat.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously over low heat until completely melted and smooth. Immediately remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Add the crispy rice cereal and gently stir until all of the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and gently press it into an even layer without compacting it too firmly.
  6. Allow the cereal mixture to cool completely for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the cooled treats from the pan and use a large ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut out approximately 10 ghosts. Press leftover scraps together and cut additional shapes when possible.
  8. Arrange the ghost-shaped treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Place the white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and continue heating in short intervals, stirring after each interval, until completely melted and smooth.
  10. Dip one side of each ghost into the melted white chocolate. Alternatively, spread the melted coating over the surface with an offset spatula.
  11. While the coating is still wet, press three mini chocolate chips onto each ghost to create two eyes and a mouth.
  12. Place the decorated Halloween Krispie Treats back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the white chocolate to set completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Melt the marshmallows over low heat to help keep the finished Halloween Krispie Treats soft and chewy.
  • Do not press the cereal mixture too firmly into the pan, as this can produce dense, hard treats.
  • Add the mini chocolate chip faces before the white chocolate sets so they stick securely.
  • White candy melts can be substituted for white chocolate for easier dipping and decorating.
  • Store the finished treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Place parchment paper between layers when stacking the treats to prevent the chocolate from sticking.
  • Avoid refrigerating the treats for regular storage because refrigeration can make them hard.
  • Chocolate-coated treats can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
