Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a standard baking sheet with oil or line with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, cream together butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Add milk and eggs, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together baking powder, cream of tartar, salt, and flour.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before frosting.
- For the frosting: In a large bowl, beat together softened butter and sour cream until smooth.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
- Add milk one tablespoon at a time until frosting reaches a spreadable, cake batter-like consistency.
- Mix in orange food coloring until evenly colored.
- Spread frosting over cooled bars and top with Halloween sprinkles immediately.
- Chill slightly before slicing and serving.
