  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar (for cream cheese layer)
  • 1 large egg (for cream cheese layer)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese layer)
  • Orange food coloring (as needed)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk 2 eggs, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Combine the wet and dry mixtures and stir until just combined. Reserve 1/4 cup of batter for swirling, and pour the rest into the prepared pan.
  5. In another bowl, mix 8 oz cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth. Add orange food coloring and stir until evenly colored.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter in the pan.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the reserved brownie batter on top and swirl with a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the center is set. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
