Description

Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a deliciously creamy and indulgent side dish, perfect for any meal. This easy-to-make recipe combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with the richness of honey and butter, creating a velvety texture that pairs beautifully with roasted meats or grilled vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into uniform chunks. Place them in a large pot with cold water.
  2. Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat and cook the sweet potatoes for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes well and return them to the pot. Mash until smooth using a potato masher or ricer.
  4. While still warm, stir in the unsalted butter and honey until melted and creamy.
  5. Gradually add the milk or cream until you reach the desired consistency. Season with salt and cinnamon to taste.
  6. Taste and adjust the sweetness or seasoning if needed before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegan option, swap the butter with coconut oil and the honey with maple syrup.
  • Make sure to mash the sweet potatoes while they are still warm for the smoothest texture.
  • If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of milk or cream.
