Description

These Hot Italian Sub Sliders are packed with bold Italian flavors, featuring layers of ham, salami, pepperoni, melted provolone, and tangy peppers on soft rolls. Baked to perfection with a savory garlic butter topping, this easy sheet pan dinner is ideal for parties, game nights, or quick family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12-pack Hawaiian rolls, halved lengthwise
  • 6 oz deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 5 oz salami, thinly sliced
  • 5 oz pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 9 slices provolone cheese
  • ⅓ cup sliced hot cherry peppers
  • ⅓ cup sliced peperoncini
  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

To serve (optional):

  • 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lightly greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Assemble the sliders: Place the bottom half of the rolls on the baking sheet. Layer the ham evenly across the rolls, followed by the salami and pepperoni. Add the slices of provolone cheese, ensuring even coverage. Distribute the hot cherry peppers and peperoncini over the cheese for added flavor and spice.
  3. Top with the roll lids: Gently place the top half of the rolls back onto the layered fillings, pressing lightly to secure everything in place.
  4. Prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with Italian seasoning and crushed garlic. Use a pastry brush to generously coat the tops of the rolls with this seasoned butter mixture, ensuring even distribution.
  5. Bake the sliders: Cover the sliders with foil and place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the flavors to meld together.
  6. Crisp the tops: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown. This step adds a slight crispiness while keeping the interior soft and gooey.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Let the sliders cool slightly before slicing along the seams of the rolls. Serve warm, with a side of marinara sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • For a less spicy version, substitute banana peppers for the hot cherry peppers or omit them entirely.
  • These sliders can be made ahead and stored in the fridge before baking. Add a few extra minutes to the bake time if chilled.
  • If the rolls start to brown too quickly, loosely cover them with foil to prevent burning while allowing the cheese to melt properly.
