Ingredients
Scale
- 12 wonton wrappers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 3 jalapeños, deseeded and finely minced (plus more for topping if desired)
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced
- ¼ cup green onions, thinly sliced
- 8 oz bacon, cooked and finely chopped (plus more for topping)
- ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (plus more for topping)
- Oil or nonstick cooking spray for greasing pan
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep the Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a muffin tin with oil or nonstick spray to prevent sticking and help the wrappers crisp evenly.
- Shape the Wonton Cups: Press a wonton wrapper into each cup of the muffin tin, smoothing it out along the bottom and sides. Brush the inside of each wrapper with a little oil to help them brown and crisp up nicely.
- Pre-Bake the Wrappers: Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake the empty wonton cups for about 6 to 8 minutes, until they just begin to turn golden. This prevents the filling from making them soggy later.
- Mix the Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, minced jalapeños, chopped bacon, green onions, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper, then stir everything together until creamy and fully combined.
- Fill the Wontons: Spoon the filling evenly into each pre-baked wonton cup. For a little extra flavor and crunch, sprinkle more cheddar cheese and bacon bits on top of each one.
- Bake and Serve: Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes, until the filling is hot and melty and the wonton edges are golden and crisp. Let them cool for a few minutes before carefully removing and serving warm.
Notes
- Softening the cream cheese ahead of time helps it blend more smoothly with the other ingredients. If you’re sensitive to spice, soaking chopped jalapeños in cold water for 10 minutes will mellow the heat. These can also be made vegetarian or with turkey bacon for a lighter option. For an extra crispy finish, consider placing them under the broiler for the last minute of baking—just watch closely to avoid burning.
