Description

King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish is a soft and buttery breakfast pastry made with sweet Hawaiian rolls filled with rich cream cheese filling, topped with cinnamon sugar, and baked until golden brown. This easy bakery-style recipe is perfect for brunch, breakfast, dessert, or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 count) King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Carefully slice each King’s Hawaiian Sweet Roll horizontally to create a pocket without cutting all the way through.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cheesecake filling evenly into each roll pocket.
  5. Arrange the filled rolls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.
  7. Mix the cinnamon and 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar together, then sprinkle evenly over the rolls.
  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the filling is set.
  9. Allow the danishes to cool slightly before transferring them to a serving platter.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use room temperature cream cheese for the smoothest filling texture.
  • Do not overfill the rolls to prevent the filling from spilling during baking.
  • Watch closely near the end of baking since Hawaiian rolls brown quickly.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Optional additions include fruit preserves, chopped nuts, or vanilla glaze.
