Description
Melted Jack O’ Lantern Brownies are a festive and fun Halloween treat. These fudgy brownies are topped with marshmallows, coated in orange candy melts, and decorated with spooky Jack O’ Lantern faces. A perfect dessert to celebrate the season!
Ingredients
Scale
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- 1 (12 oz) package orange candy melts
- 9 large marshmallows
- ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8-inch square pan. Set it aside.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- In a larger bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Fold in the dry ingredients and chocolate chunks, stirring until just combined. Spread batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Slice into 9 even squares and set aside.
- Line the countertop with parchment paper and place brownies on top, spacing them out slightly.
- Melt candy melts according to package directions. Dip each marshmallow into the orange candy coating, ensuring excess coating is not shaken off, and place it in the center of each brownie.
- Lightly tap the brownie on the countertop to smooth out the candy coating, then quickly top each marshmallow with a chocolate chip to resemble a pumpkin stem.
- Allow the candy coating to harden for about 30 minutes.
- Once hardened, melt the remaining chocolate chips and pipe Jack O’ Lantern faces onto the marshmallow tops.
- Let the chocolate faces harden for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- To achieve a smooth coating, gently tap the brownie on the counter to help the candy coating settle around the marshmallow.
- If the candy coating isn’t thick enough, you can spoon extra candy over the marshmallow and tap again to smooth.
- Store the brownies in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze them for later use.
- Feel free to experiment with other candy melt colors for a fun twist.
