Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups sliced nectarines (about 6 medium nectarines)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping.
- Pour the melted butter into the flour mixture and stir until crumbly clumps form. Let the topping rest for 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced nectarines, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon, cardamom, and a pinch of salt. Toss gently until evenly coated.
- Transfer the nectarine mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit filling.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let the Nectarine Crumble cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm plain or topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm nectarines for the best texture.
- No need to peel the nectarines because the skins soften during baking.
- Allow the crumble to cool before serving so the filling can thicken properly.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Reheat leftovers gently in the microwave or oven before serving.
- For a vegan version, substitute plant-based butter.
- You can add blueberries, peaches, or raspberries for extra fruit flavor variations.
