Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line light-colored baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and creamy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate morsels and chopped nuts, if using.
