Description

This Old School Pizza Burger combines juicy seasoned beef patties with rich marinara sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and classic pizza toppings, all served on a toasted bun for a nostalgic and satisfying comfort meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup (240ml) marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 16 slices pepperoni (about 60g)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) sliced olives
  • 1/2 cup (75g) sliced bell peppers

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties, making a slight indentation in the center.
  3. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until desired doneness.
  4. While the patties cook, slice and toast the hamburger buns until lightly golden.
  5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce onto each patty, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Add pepperoni slices, olives, and bell peppers on top of each patty.
  7. Cover the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Place each patty on a toasted bun, assemble, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the beef to keep the patties tender and juicy.
  • Use freshly shredded mozzarella for better melting and texture.
  • Toast the buns to prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter option.
  • Adjust toppings based on preference, such as adding mushrooms or jalapeños.
