Description

Pizza Tree on a Stick is a fun and festive holiday treat perfect for kids and adults alike. It’s simple to prepare, with a pizza dough base, topped with tomato paste, mozzarella cheese, and baked into fun tree shapes on skewers. Whether for a Christmas party or just a fun dinner, these pizza trees are a hit every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 Tbsp tomato paste (thick, for better consistency)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 3/4 tbsp olive oil (for greasing the surface and brushing the dough)
  • 8 bamboo or wooden skewers (soaked in water for 20 minutes)

Instructions

  1. Soak the skewers in water for about 20 minutes to prevent burning in the oven.
  2. Grease a flat surface with 2 tbsp of olive oil.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle using your hands or a rolling pin.
  4. Cut the dough into two equal halves lengthwise.
  5. Spread tomato paste on one half of the dough and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Place the second half of the dough on top, pressing gently to seal it like a sandwich.
  7. Cut the dough into 5 long strips.
  8. Fold each strip in a zig-zag motion to create a tree-like shape.
  9. Insert a skewer through the center of each folded pizza strip.
  10. Place the pizza trees on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Make sure to use thick tomato paste to prevent sogginess in the dough.
  • If you prefer a gluten-free version, substitute the pizza dough with a gluten-free option.
  • Feel free to experiment with different fillings like spinach, pepperoni, or fresh herbs.
  • If the tree shape isn’t clear after baking, gently shape it by hand after inserting the skewer.
