Ingredients
Scale
- 1 roll Puff Pastry: provides the flaky, buttery texture
- 3–4 tablespoons Basil Pesto: adds vibrant herb flavor and festive green color
- 2 tablespoons Parmigiano cheese, grated: adds nutty, salty richness
- Optional: Skewers for presentation and stability
- Optional: Cheese cut-outs (stars) for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry on parchment paper to avoid sticking.
- Spread the basil pesto evenly across the entire sheet using a spoon or spatula.
- Sprinkle grated Parmigiano cheese on top of the pesto layer.
- Use a sharp knife or pastry cutter to slice the pastry into 1-inch (2.5 cm) wide strips.
- Fold each strip in a zigzag shape to form a Christmas tree. Insert a skewer vertically if desired.
- Transfer the shaped trees to a lined baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Cool slightly before serving. Optionally, top with cheese stars for decoration.
Notes
- Do not overfill with pesto to prevent leaking during baking.
- Use cold puff pastry for best results—keep it chilled until use.
- To reheat, place in a 200°C (400°F) oven for 3–5 minutes to restore crispness.
- Great served with dipping sauces like marinara or garlic aioli.
