Description
Sautéed Cabbage and Kielbasa is a quick and hearty one-pan dinner made with smoky kielbasa sausage, tender sautéed cabbage, onions, garlic, and paprika. This comforting skillet recipe is packed with savory flavor, easy to prepare, and perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounces kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 medium green cabbage (about 2 pounds), thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and slightly crispy. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the butter and chopped onion to the same skillet. Cook for 3 minutes until softened and lightly golden.
- Add the sliced cabbage and cook uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the cabbage becomes tender-crisp and slightly caramelized.
- Stir in the minced garlic and paprika. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet and stir everything together. Cook for 2 to 3 more minutes until heated through.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot.
Notes
- Slice the cabbage thinly for faster and more even cooking.
- Use smoked paprika for a deeper smoky flavor.
- Andouille sausage or smoked Polish sausage can be substituted for kielbasa.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Reheat gently in a skillet for the best texture.
