Description

The Strawberry Sando is a delightful Japanese fruit sandwich featuring fresh strawberries and whipped cream sandwiched between soft milk bread. This dessert is light, refreshing, and perfect for tea time, picnics, or simply satisfying a sweet craving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
  • 4 slices milk bread
  • 10 fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Add heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla essence (optional) to a bowl. Whip the mixture until stiff peaks form.
  2. Trim the leaves off the strawberries and cut them into halves or quarters.
  3. Trim the crusts off the milk bread slices.
  4. Spread a layer of whipped cream on one slice of milk bread.
  5. Arrange 3 strawberries in a diagonal line with 1 strawberry on each side, making sure all are facing the same direction.
  6. Add another layer of whipped cream on top of the strawberries, completely covering them.
  7. Place another slice of milk bread on top, gently pressing down without squishing the sandwich.
  8. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap. Optionally, draw a line on top of the wrap according to the direction of the strawberry arrangement.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or freeze for 15 minutes to allow the sandwich to set.
  10. Slice the sandwich along the diagonal line of strawberries using a sharp knife and serve.

Notes

  • Feel free to use other fruits like kiwis, mangoes, or tropical fruits as a variation.
  • If you don’t have heavy whipping cream, you can substitute with coconut cream for a dairy-free version.
  • Refrigerate the sandwich for the best texture and freshness.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
