Description

These Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies are a festive no-bake treat made with Chex cereal, pink and red candy melts, powdered sugar, and Valentine’s M&M’s. Perfect for holiday parties, gifts, or sweet snacking, this colorful mix is crunchy, sweet, and irresistibly fun to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 cups Chex cereal: Provides the crispy base for the snack mix
  • 1 cup pink candy melts: Adds sweet flavor and pink color
  • 1 cup red candy melts: Adds festive red color and sweetness
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil: Helps thin the candy melts for smooth coating
  • 1 cup powdered sugar: Coats the cereal for a sweet, powdery finish
  • 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s: Adds crunch and chocolate flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Valentine’s Day sprinkles: Decorative and festive topping

Instructions

  1. Divide the Chex cereal evenly into two bowls.
  2. Melt 1 cup pink candy melts with 1 teaspoon of oil in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  3. Pour the melted candy over the first bowl of cereal and gently fold until evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the coated cereal to a large ziplock bag, add 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and shake to coat.
  5. Spread the coated cereal onto a wax paper-lined baking sheet to set.
  6. Repeat steps 2–5 using the red candy melts and remaining 1 teaspoon oil with the second bowl of cereal.
  7. Allow both batches to set for 30 minutes.
  8. Combine both colored cereals in a large bowl, then mix in the M&M’s and sprinkles.
  9. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Microwave candy melts in short intervals to avoid burning.
  • If the candy coating seizes, microwave the mixture again for 15 seconds and stir to re-coat.
  • Use wax paper to prevent sticking and ensure proper drying.
  • This recipe freezes well for up to 3 months.
