Description

These Watermelon Feta Appetizer Bites are a refreshing sweet-and-savory appetizer made with juicy watermelon, creamy feta cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Perfect for summer parties, picnics, cookouts, and holiday gatherings, they are quick to prepare, require no cooking, and deliver a delicious balance of flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 10 ounces feta cheese block, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • 10 fresh basil leaves, optional, cut into small pieces
  • 25 toothpicks or cocktail skewers

Instructions

  1. Cut the watermelon into approximately 1-inch cubes and place them on a clean work surface.
  2. Cut the feta cheese block into cubes similar in size to the watermelon pieces.
  3. Thread one watermelon cube onto a toothpick or cocktail skewer.
  4. Add one cube of feta cheese on top of the watermelon.
  5. If using basil, place a small basil leaf or basil piece on top of the feta.
  6. Add a second watermelon cube to complete each appetizer bite.
  7. Arrange the assembled bites on a serving platter.
  8. Refrigerate until ready to serve, if desired.
  9. Just before serving, drizzle the bites evenly with balsamic glaze.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use ripe watermelon for the sweetest flavor and best texture.
  • Block feta works better than crumbled feta for clean presentation.
  • Add the balsamic glaze immediately before serving to prevent excess moisture.
  • Fresh mint can be substituted for basil.
  • For special occasions, cut the watermelon into decorative shapes using small cookie cutters.
  • Store prepared bites without glaze in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing is not recommended as watermelon becomes mushy when thawed.
