Description
This festive White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge is a smooth and creamy three-ingredient Christmas candy made with white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and crushed candy canes. It is easy to prepare on the stovetop and finished with a crunchy peppermint topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups white chocolate chips: creates the smooth, creamy fudge base.
- 6 oz sweetened condensed milk: adds sweetness and richness while helping the fudge set.
- 2 cups crushed candy canes: provides refreshing peppermint flavor, festive color, and a crunchy texture.
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract, optional: adds extra minty flavor.
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to make the finished fudge easier to remove.
- Place the candy canes in a sealed gallon-size plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you have about two cups of crushed candy.
- Combine the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in the top of a double boiler over medium-high heat.
- Stir consistently until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not boil.
- Stir one cup of the crushed candy canes into the melted fudge mixture. Add the optional peppermint extract if you want a stronger mint flavor.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly to the edges using a spatula or large wooden spoon.
- Sprinkle the remaining crushed candy canes over the top, gently pressing them into the fudge so they stay in place.
- Refrigerate for 4-6 hours, or until the fudge is firm and set. Alternatively, freeze for 2 hours.
- Remove the set fudge from the pan using the parchment paper. If frozen, allow it to thaw for about 30 minutes before slicing.
- Place the fudge on a cutting board and slice it into squares before serving.
Notes
- The recipe makes 12 servings.
- An 8×8-inch square baking pan, parchment paper, and a double boiler are recommended.
- Round peppermints can be used instead of candy canes.
- Do not boil the white chocolate and condensed milk mixture while melting.
- If you do not have a double boiler, a metal bowl placed over a saucepan containing 1-2 inches of water can be used carefully.
- The stovetop method is recommended because microwaving condensed milk can cause bubbling or splattering.
- If using a microwave, heat the white chocolate chips and condensed milk in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-20 second intervals until smooth.
- Store the fudge in a covered or airtight container. It can be kept at room temperature for about one to two weeks.
