Description
White Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn is an easy no-bake holiday snack made with crisp popcorn coated in creamy white chocolate, peppermint extract, and crushed candy canes. It is sweet, crunchy, festive, and perfect for Christmas parties, movie nights, dessert tables, and homemade gifts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 cups popped popcorn
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or 8 ounces vanilla almond bark
- 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons finely crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the popped popcorn evenly over the surface. Remove any unpopped kernels.
- Place the candy canes or peppermint candies in a sealed bag and crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin.
- Place the white chocolate chips or vanilla almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, stirring every 20 to 30 seconds, until smooth.
- Stir the peppermint extract into the melted white chocolate.
- Drizzle about two-thirds of the melted white chocolate over the popcorn. Sprinkle with some of the crushed peppermint candy and gently toss to coat.
- Spread the popcorn back into an even layer and drizzle the remaining white chocolate over the top.
- Sprinkle with the remaining crushed peppermint candy.
- Allow the popcorn to sit at room temperature until the chocolate has completely hardened.
- Break apart any large clusters and serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Use freshly popped plain or lightly salted popcorn for the crispiest texture.
- Remove all unpopped kernels before adding the white chocolate.
- Melt white chocolate gently to prevent scorching or becoming grainy.
- Measure peppermint extract carefully because its flavor is very concentrated.
- Vanilla almond bark or white chocolate melting wafers can be used instead of white chocolate chips.
- Allow the coating to set completely before storing or packaging the popcorn.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool, dry place for about 3 days for the best texture.
